Did you know that toys do so much more than just decorate a cage? The toys we stock here are used to help simulate much of the needs a bird has to live a rewarding life. Swings and boings are so important as they give the bird’s ability to exercise and have the movement they need throughout the day.

Wooden toys and leather accent points on toys give your bird the opportunity to chew on and file down their beak naturally.

Calcium parts are present on multiple toys to help female birds replenish calcium through foraging exercise.

Foraging toys are great for mental stimulation. Your bird needs a job throughout the day. Puzzle type toys are huge for birds to survive the day waiting for you to come home and play.

Preening simulation is highly rewarding to a bird's soul. Birds spend a great deal of time preening each other. The absence of another bird leaves the birds wanting that sensation. These toys give them that outlet. Failure to provide this can allow for plucking to occur.

Some toys have more than one function and we carefully help you to find toys that help you serve your bird's best interest. Lastly, you may have a favorite game you like to play- but that doesn’t mean you want to do it day in and day out. You MUST change out toys and change where they are located in the cage. I personally recommend doing this once a week. A bird owner should have twenty or so toys that rotate in and out of the cage throughout the year to provide the simulation of a changing environment for the optimal ability to provide an interactive environment. You don’t need to have them all at once but I usually advise to work yourself up to at least that amount over the course of a year because you want to give great mental and physical stimulation. Enrich your bird's lives and you will find less frustration and better interactions that’s a personal guarantee.

Lastly, some toys are dangerous- subpar materials used to make the toys appear enhanced but are still cheaply built. Worse yet many of these toys are not stood behind companies capable of ensuring quality or are interested in providing that. You want to do business with a company like A&E Cage Company who stand behind its products. A&E Cage Company this week is running a sale here on their high-quality products. Don’t forget to monitor your toys- even high-quality toys can become dangerous when used past their prime - if it looks dangerous, it is- throw it out and get a new one!!
